This was another crucial game after fine away performances, so you know what happened. It looks to me, John Mac, as if 2014 is going to be as bad as 2013. Does Pete Sixsmith agree? Here’s his immediate post-match, seven-word verdict on a day of deepening gloom.

Smoggie or Smaggie as I prefer, is just a troll . It’s easy to ignore it in theory ,but when it’s dominating and disrupting a lot of the threads with nothing constructive to say it basically ruins them. I do choose to ignore its cynically timed olive branches though when things get a bit heated for it because i simply believe they are disingenuous .
Agreed that it ruins the threads which is why I think it best just to ignore them – short of censorship, which is not a policy I’d like to see adopted without good reason (eg libel). M Salut has issued a yellow card though.
Dave did you see Roberge’s error for the first Cardiff goal?
Diakite was awful against Cardiff, that’s right and he was no better than ok against Villa.
When you were a bairn did they teach you to pass the ball across the box to the last man or no?
DAve I agree with you Villa are awful they should have been relegated last season.
If it is genuinely 4/5 then get your money on. The side that played yesterday are much shorter odds than that to get relegated.
Separately, what game was Jeremy watching? Diakite was dreadful at Cardiff but had a very good game yesterday. He cannot pass but he timed his tackles brilliantly and stopped a number of one on one breaks.
We have been passing across the back 4 all the time under Poyet and, while it scares me every time, this is the first time we have come unstuck. To blame Roberge for the goal is ridiculous. He was just implementing the tactics the manager has given them. Cattermole has been very good recently but was awful yesterday.
The other disappointment was giving points to a team as horrible as Villa. Time wasting in the first half, pretend head injuries whenever under pressure and flattening players again and again after they had passed the ball. The referee was unbelievably weak on that and I am not surprised Colback lost his head.
When we go down, I really hope they are one of the other 2.
I see you lot are 4/5 odds to get relegated oh dear what a shame……NOT
One vanishes, another one appears, zzzzzzz
Mr Smoggie, my dear Mr Smoggie, put an egg in your boot, AND BEAT IT!
He can’t spell “bonny” either.
Or punctuate but I let that go.
While all this talks been going on I’ve been waiting to see when somebody would notice the scoreline on the top of this is wrong but nobody has. You can take wishfull thinking too far you know
[now corrected, J.Mac]
You aren’t too bright are you?
brighter than you buggars bonnie lad
If you were that bright you would be able to spell buggers and wishful correctly.
Aye why you would know more about that kind of thing than me I’m sure lol
When I was a bairn I was taught to never pass the ball across your own box or close to it. Particularly when the intended recipient has the ball control of Cyril Smith’s Y fronts.
Most errors do not have a single cause, and this one was no exception. Roberge is a catastrophe and so his marra at the back there Diahorrea.
Disastrous non performance , the game is up. If that shower of sh##e want to get relegated , stop pretending otherwise . F## k off the lot of them ,Colback and Mannone aside , I hope the rest of them get sucked into a black hole!
Lots of huffing and puffing as usual, but the bottom line is this team just isn’t good enough. After their relatively impressive Christmas season outings had provided a modicum of optimism, today when it was on the line, and at home against very mediocre opposition, they simply couldn’t get the job done. And it wasn’t through lack of effort, simply lack of talent.
With the spectre of relegation looming large over the Black Cats, today result has shown it’s not so much a question of if, but rather a question of when.
Why no, you’d only miss. happy new year lads
Lee Cattermole should be shot with shite.
There’s another 7.
