A somewhat delayed Sixer’s Seven: SAFC 1 Hull City 3

bugger!
Like that old man on The Fast Show “Bugger!” says Jake!
Malcolm Dawson writes……I was in Sixer’s seat today as he enjoyed corporate hospitality courtesy of his old mucker Peter Horan and daughter. His view of the game would have been no more satisfactory than mine was but at least he had roast beef before kick off and prawn sandwiches at half time. Can’t think it made the result any easier to stomach though. Apologies for the delay, we do try and get his instantaneous reaction but today M Salut was otherwise engaged and I am just home having stopped off at my brother’s on the way back. Well it is Christmas!

Anyway – here was Pete’s post match reaction as texted to me when the full time whistle went.

Dec 21 NUFC (0) 0 SAFC (0) 1 Four in a row brings Christmas cheer

Dec 13 SAFC (1) 1 West Ham United (1) 1 One point better than none. Tight game

Salut! Sunderland wishes all readers and contributors a glorious Christmas

Colin Randall writes (OK, some would say that’s an exaggeration):

Salut! Sunderland had modest beginnings in the New Year of 2007, as an offshoot of Salut!, a post-redundo blog that continued – and maybe even improved – my online work as one of The Daily Telegraph‘s pioneering bloggers, in my case from Paris.

Salut! aimed then, as it does now, to talk about “France, current affairs, travel, the media – and more besides” and you can see how well or badly it fares in meeting that self-imposed challenge at http://francesalut.com.

Salut! Sunderland
, like my folk music site Salut! Live, had narrower targets. It was intended as a whimsical site by and for lovers of Sunderland AFC. It had no pretensions about being the new ALS or Ready to Go and that is just as well as both are rightly established at the core of the club’s support.

SAFC vs Hull City: last(ish) words on the match and best wishes to Raich Carter Junior

Our Raich (senior), collects the FA Cup in 1937 from the King's lass. Sixer says it was a fine match
Our Raich (senior), collects the FA Cup in 1937 from the Kings lass. Sixer says it was a fine match

This is a Ha’way the Lads Christmas greeting to the Lads,
winners in dramatic fashion at St James’ Park on Sunday, and a hearty “get well soon” to one of this site’s friends, Raich Carter Junior.

As most readers of Salut! Sunderland will know, the Who are You? series first-place award was won last season by one Raich, son of the genius of the same name who was born in Sunderland, brilliantly represented his town football club (city status was a long way off in those days) and went on to play for and manage Hull City.
