Will Guess the Score predictions become gloomier, asks Monsieur Salut?
Two losing scorelines were submitted for the Blackpool game, and they came from a known Sunderland supporter and from “Brian”, who insists he is also one of us, just a hypercritical one of us.
There was not prizewinner on Tuesday night. No one thought it would end 1-1.
And nor did I when the Blackpool goal went in and there was no immediate response. At 70 minutes, I decided the next 10 would be crucial, and so it turned out.
But these are worrying times. We are simply incapable of imposing ourselves on teams, high or low in the League One table, and have been since very early in the season.
Brian blames the owners and Jack Ross and pines for Ellis Short and the good old days of, er, PDC, Moyes and Coleman. Or maybe he doesn’t. Perhaps his great-great-great grandfather could be heard in the Sunderland hostelries of the 1890s bemoaning the glaring shortcomings of The Team of All The Talents. We may never know; he has declined invitations to express himself more fully than in comments to articles that appear here.
Yet plenty of people are asking, sincerely, whether we are actually good enough. There is no need to insult the present management structure and players. Facts and results speak for themselves. We don’t score goals or defend leads in the way both Luton and Barnsley do. Josh Maja’s departure, however difficult to prevent, looks more and more damaging to our prospects.
The three successive home games should have offered our way back into contention for an automatic promotion place. We have blown one opportunity – dropping two points at home is nothing less – and must now make amends.

Ha’way THE Lads.
The Lads to win 1-0, though hope there’s more goals (for us).
3-1 to the lads
I was going for 2-1, but I think CSB has claimed that? if he has, I’ll go for 4-2 (to us).
3-2
I was there to witness Will’s home debut and was behind the goal willing the ball in when he rounded the keeper…….. clearly I was not willing enough. So I will will Will on on Friday night as he opens his account and we come from 3-0 down (OMG!!) to a superb 4-3 win.
4-1 to the lads
We are due a 6-0 home win so 6-0 it is.
Grigg, Maguire, O’Nien, Wyke, Grigg, Leadbitter.
3-0 to Sunderland.
Sunderland 1 – 1 Accrington Stanley
A nailed on winner……..hopefully not
2-0 to the lads. A clean sheet to boot.
Has to be 1-1. Hope it isn’t
Fower nowt (that’s 1 x 4). Four games worth of goals to be blasted in, in 90 minutes. Season back on track.
