While I was awaiting his text, which went to France instead of Liverpool, I posted my own summary: *A dire display from players and manager. Does Pete disagree? I think not from his own seven words, which now appear below:

We are far too tolerant of the nonsense that we have been afflicted with for years now. Muted protests and quiet discontent is the result of having the enthusiasm knocked out of us by one set of incompetents after another.
We shouldn’t even be discussing whether he has to go or not. He should have been given his cards months ago.
The amazing thing is the newspapers and TV are going overboard with this and portraying it as some kind of shock result. Believe me, all long suffering supporters knew a result like this was coming, it’s not a shock to us. I still think we’ll stay up probably by a point or two. If not, who will really miss the Premier League?
I don’t think we’ll stop up unless we change managers . If we go down I’d certainly not miss getting beat most weeks season after season but its a step backwards . There’s no point in competing unless you aim to compete at the highest level you can . Saying that I don’t think we’re at that level anymore .
Spot on. We have a slight chance if we get rid of Poyet and his clueless henchmen NOW.
We could bring in an interim coach until the end of the season. Anyone would be an improvement.
Utter disgrace , players , coaching staff and the board for engineering it to this point . None are fit for purpose but at least we can change on imediately , Poyet . Go and go now !
And, to complete a ” wonderful day”, Burnley have won against Man City! Well done to them.
Complete and utter shambles. 2 weeks to prepare and the clown feels the need to change Fletcher and Alvarez over after only 15 mins, which immediately led to the first goal. The main positive from the day is that everyone, including Short, must now see what I have been saying for ages now, which is that he is utterly clueless. Why spend all your money on a goal poacher and then never pick any players who can get the ball in to him.
You look at the bench and you see Jones, Coates and Vergini and 2 centre forwards. Where are Watmore and Honeyman, players who might be able to offer something different. All we had to bring on was Danny Graham!
Only other positive for me, and this is really odd, was Fletcher who really put a shift in, won almost all his headers, none of which Defoe ran for, and deserved a goal at the end when he hit the post
Aston Villa, without an away goal for 10 hours, coasted to four in the first half. Poyet ought to thank them for taking their foot off the pedal, because this could have been another Southampton – and on our own ground!
Surely he has to go now?
I hear tell Ian Holloways on the pancrack so you could do a lot worse than get him as player-manager. Better than that soft bugger that couldnt be arsed to come out with the rest of the lads for the second half lol
If you mean Larsson he was having his foot stitched.He could have hidden and used that as an excuse,but credit to him for coming back….only one worth a light yesterday.
Funny, your man Sixer says he just ran about and did nowt same as always. Pity help you if that makes him the best
Today I was ashamed of my team but more so of my manager who seemed to do nothing to improve the situation during the game. Just like last time out. I was more surprised that he had not resigned than I was about him saying that he would have booed if he had been a fan
In a lifetime of disappointments and embarrassment, that was down there with the worst of them. They played like they’d never even met each other before let alone actually practiced football together. It’ll be interesting to see what the board will do in the next few days, with only nine games remaining if they’re gonna act, they had better do it sharpish.
Whilst Ithink that GP has got too much wrong this season I also think that the board is stuck between the proverbial rock and the hard place. Who is available that could turn this around and new manager bounce doesn’t always work. I would say no one so is it best stick with GP and hope for the best? He did it last year.
For me its up to the players to take control of the tactics from now until the end of the season and tell the manager that they they are going to play every game like it is a cup final and if he doesn’t like well tough. I think the fans would rather see us get relegated in a blaze of glory than just sleep walk our way into the Championship ……and sometimes fortune favours the brave.
Whatever happens it is clear that GP is not cut out to be the long term manager for SAFC. Mind you I said the same when we appointed Peter Reid.In football sometimes you just never know.
