Salut! Sunderland’s Week: your chance to sway Player of the Season awards

More from the magic camera of Jake's pal, Tony Roffe

This week’s review of what has been going on should probably discuss Spurs and Everton. But there does not seem to be much more to say about either – you can always check out what Pete Sixsmith made of each game by clicking on this link, which gives you the full Sixer’s Soapbox archive – so I will devote most of it to a reminder of the Salut! Sunderland straw poll to find the Player and Young Player of the Season.

Along with all members
of the London and SE branch of the Sunderland AFC Supporters’ Association, I have been invited to offer my nominations in each category.

As already explained, I have gone for Stephane Sessegnon and Jack Colback. There are alternative candidates who, I am sure, will appeal to other readers. the choice is yours. The deadline is next Friday at midnight after which I will tot up the votes cast and cast a collective one accordingly.

To register your votes, do NOT try to post here – I shall disable comments for this posting only – but go to this link, the original item, to give your selections and, if you wish to have the chance of winning a prize, your reasoning. I posted mine as Kingshirker; several others have made their own judgements.

This is how Ian Todd, from the branch, introduced the voting to members (complete with a list of those available as Young Players):

Although we will in due course announce the Branch result, our votes will be aggregated to those of other Branches to determine who will receive the awards at a function in Quinn’s Bar at the end of the season.

For clarification, those qualified by age as Young Player are: Jack Colback, Ji Dong- Won, James McClean, David Meyler, Ryan Noble and Connor Wickham. The deadline for submitting our results is 10.00 on Sunday 22nd April so please consider the matter and vote soon.

That is about it for Salut! Sunderland’s Week. there was plenty more which you can investigate by going to the home page; you can go off-piste and take a look at Salut!, mostly about France, or explore the world of folk music at Salut! Live and there is still time to enter today’s guess-the-score competition.

And Ha’way the Lads versus Wolves …
