Colin Randall writes: Pete Sixsmith watched the first half in dismay. To my ‘utterly atrocious’, he admitted to feeling ashamed. Sunderland perked up in the second half, Patrick van Aanholt finally brought some pace and width and we were level. Mike Dead had booked Wes Brown for the early challenge (a fair one) from which Huddlestone’s low free kick was turned in neatly by N’Doye. A point was better than none though Jack Rodwell, who had headed PVA’s cross via an arm into the net, fluffed a chance to grab a winner and N’Doye was denied by a breathtaking stop by Pantilimon. The first posting of the Sevens had my emergency verdict – but it is now updated with Sixer’s own seven word summation …

It could be case of who blinks first . Short cant be happy with the rubbish served up ,though Rodwell aside ,he’s spent little net this season and I don’t think for a minute Poyets enjoying it here . He still lives down south I’ve read . But to go on the managerial merry go round at this stage of the season yet again while paying off yet another manager will be the very last resort for Short .Hopefully we stop up and at the end of the season they come to a gentlemans agreement for Poyet to leave , I think both party’s and more importantly the majority of fans would settle for that .
I don’t think that Short has the least intention of sacking him. He’d have been gone after the Bradford debacle.
Or, better still, the Southampton capitulation?
Team selection and tactics totally bizzare. After 20mins you were thinking he has to change this by half time I thought that’s it Poyet your finished.
Rodwell, with the aid of the substitutions (which I also thought should have occurred 15mins before they did), have saved him for the time being, but the pressure is building, our first half performance was insipid, no threat, no hold up play and we were second best to everything.
If this was a must win game then the starting 11 were not up for it, how much longer do we have to put up with his eccentric team selections and tactics!!!!
If the call is not P45 then no, he hasn’t. The line-up last night was inexcusable. You cannot go into that game hoping for a 0-0 and not carrying any attacking threat at all. Full back choices, again, absolutely incomprehensible.
Without Johnson and Alvarez, who in that side was ever going to cross a ball?
Looked like he was headed for a straight jacket yesterday Jeremy so maybe the decision should be taken out of he’s hands . I know one thing, Rodwell stopped him getting the bullet this morning, with eleven days to the next game and you’d assume a replacement lined up I think Ellis Short would have acted if we’d lost . The tactics and line up in the first half we’re bizarre to say the least and I was wondering if it was he’s resignation note . If Poyet doesn’t go in the next few days he’ll be with us untill the end of the season , Mr Short I hope you’ve made the correct call.
Poyet said before the weekend hat we had to win one of the games against Man Utd or Hull.
We haven’t. Does that mean he will resign now?
