Monsieur Salut writes: in a sign of age, I imposed ‘Hayley Mulls’ on our charming young writer Hayley Penman as the generic title for her occasional offerings here. And how welcome those contributions are. With gentle paternal guidance from our old friend John Penman, Hayley – just 12 on November 14 – came up with the idea of interviewing two men associated with the clubs that matter to her, Sunderland and Dunfermline. One day, we (or she) will come up with ideas for a better collective title for her articles than Hayley Mulls – and one day David Moyes, who admittedly has had more pressing matters on his plate, may add the missing responses to her questions …

Moyes on the Boys v Hull: Happy Anniversary, Colin
After the game our manager appeared to take some time in sending his post-match letter to M Salut (and maybe one or two others). But knowing our leader is ensconced deep in the heart of Europe (where Mme Salut may hopefully let him look at the results and where he will surely have received M Sixsmith’s texts) Mr Moyes also sent a copy to me to make up for the delay.
What did the letter contain? Well, it wasn’t marked confidential so you can read it for yourself. Here it is:
Moyes on the Boys: praise for players but this one’s for the fans
Malcolm Dawson writes…..it’s a long way from Wearside to Bournemouth and those that made the journey for once did not …

Sixer’s West Ham Soapbox: late pressing by Irons brings another defeat
Malcolm Dawson writes……….Pete Sixsmith is used to getting up early, what with next door but one’s dog to walk and the papers to deliver to the great and good of Shildon, so catching the coach to West Ham was no hardship. Watching the match might have been but for 94 minutes it looked like he could have been celebrating a 50 per cent improvement in our points total on the long journey home. That he wasn’t isn’t a novelty, but still he goes along most weeks to bring you his insightful views of how the Lads performed. Here’s what he rattled off before journeying forth to take in the Under 23s’ match this lunchtime.
Sixer’s Stoke City Soapbox: following Sunderland – a harsh form of community service
Malcolm Dawson writes……after another abject performance and the one result we didn’t want, it looks as if the writing is …
Moyes on the Boyes at Stoke: right to feel SAFC deserved more, or deluded?
To many of us who, one way or the other, saw the 2-0 defeat at Stoke City, this was a Sunderland display that insulted those occupying another sell-out away end and suggested the record for the lowest number of Premier League points, currently 11 and held by Derby County, will be returning to Wearside. For David Moyes, however, it was a game we ought to have taken a point from. Mmm. Consider his post-match e-mail to Monsieur Salut and a few others ..
SAD sweet dreamer – it’s just one of those things you put down to experience
Following on from M Salut’s look at how Seasonal Adjustment Disorder (SAD) is affecting the Stadium of Light faithful, Malcolm …
