Any expression of confidence, even hope, is meaningless. All that matters is the result. We know that without being told.
We’ve been this way so many times. The big game on the outcome of which rests so much. And it is fair to say the many Sunderlands of our collective support have not always been great at delivering the goods on such occasions.

To recognise Sunderland’s achievement in reaching the Carling Cup Final (sic) on Sunday we will be allowing all children to come to school dressed in red and white on Friday. The children who have Sunderland kits may wear them for school. We will have a black and white day when Newcastle have something to celebrate.
